Do they have sugar at home? – У них дома есть сахар?

He doesn’t have a camera. – У него нет фотоаппарата.

Артикль не употребляется перед существительными во множественном числе, а также если перед существительным стоит притяжательное местоимение (my, your и т.д.) или притяжательная конструкция (Jack’s, Kate’s и т.д.).

She has souvenirs from France. –У нее есть сувениры из Франции.

I don’t have your phone number. – У меня нет твоего номера.

Do you have Jack’s address? – У тебя есть адрес Джека?

Обратите внимание, что если перед исчисляемым существительным в единственном числе стоит одно или несколько прилагательных, а также наречие, относящееся к прилагательному, то неопределенный артикль ставится перед всей группой прилагательных или группой наречие + прилагательное.

I have a white cat. – У меня (есть) белая кошка.

Jane has a long black cocktail dress. – У Джейн есть длинное черное платье для коктейльных вечеринок.

They have a very old TV. – У них очень старый телевизор.

The Story of Alex and His Stuff (вещи)

My friend Alex (have) a problem. He thinks he (have – должен) to have everything. He (have) a huge (огромная) apartment, but he (not, have) a comfortable sofa. He (have) a cool smartphone, but he (not, have) anyone interesting to call. Alex (have) an expensive car, but it (have) a constant weird noise (странный шум), and he (not, have) time to fix it.

His girlfriend, Chloe, (have) a lot of patience (терпение), but even it (have) its limits. One day she said, "Alex, you (thave) too much junk (барахло). You (thave) a collection of vintage posters, but you (not, have) a free wall to hang (повесить) them! You (have) a subscription (подписка) to every streaming service (зд.: онлайн-кинотеатр), but you (not, have) time to watch anything!"

Alex had an idea. "You (have) a point (ты права)," he said. "But first, I (have) a question: do you (thave) plans for Saturday? I (have) two tickets to a concert."

So, on Saturday, they had a sale. A man had an interest (заинтересовался) in Alex's old guitar. A student had just enough (достаточно) money for the dusty (пыльные) books. A little girl had a big smile (широко улыбнулась) when she got (получила) the almost-new skateboard.

By the evening, Alex had less (меньше) stuff, but he had more (больше) money and space (место). He also had a surprising feeling – relief (облегчение).

"Wow," he said, "I (have) to admit (признать), it feels good. I (have) everything I need right here." He looked at Chloe, their now-empty garage, and the pizza they had on the kitchen table.

Chloe laughed. "See? Now you (have) a story. And we (have) pizza. That's all we really need to (have) a perfect evening."

Специальные вопросы с глаголом to have

В отличие от общих вопросов, требующих ответов «да» или «нет» (Do you have a car? – Yes, I do / No, I don’t), специальные вопросы задают, чтобы получить дополнительную и уточняющую информацию. В специальных вопросах используются вопросительные слова или словосочетания.

Вопросительные слова: what – что, who – кто, when – когда, where – где, why – почему, whose – чей и др.

Вопросительные словосочетания: what + сущ. – какой (what book, what day); which of + cущ. / местоим. – кто / который из (which of you, which of the students); how much – сколько (перед неисчисляемыми сущ.: how much sugar); how many – сколько (перед исчисляемыми сущ.: how many students).

Специальные вопросы с глаголом to have строятся по следующей схеме:

Вопрос. слово / словосочетание + do / does + подлежащее + have (+ …)?

What do you have in your garage? – I only have my old car there. (Что у вас есть в гараже? – У меня там только моя старая машина.)

Where does Mike have his posters? – He has them in his room. (Где у Майка его постеры? – Они у него в комнате.)

When do they have their English classes? – They have English on Monday and Friday. (Когда у них уроки английского? – У них английский в понедельник и пятницу.)

Why do you have so many old phones? – Because I collect them! (Почему у тебя так много старых телефонов? – Потому что я их коллекционирую!)

Whose telephone numbers do you have, Kate? – I only have my parents’ numbers. (Чьи номера телефонов у тебя есть, Кейт? – У меня только номера моих родителей.)

How much sugar do you have in your tea, Tommy? – Not much, only four spoons. (Сколько сахара у тебя в чае, Томми? – Немного, только четыре ложки.)

How many brothers does she have? – Two. (Сколько у нее братьев? – Двое.)

Если вопрос начинается с вопросительного слова who или сочетания which of + сущ. / местоим., то такое предложение строится без вспомогательного глагола do / does по следующей формуле:

Who / which of… + has +дополнение?

Who has grandparents in the village? – Ron has. (У кого есть бабушка и дедушка в деревне? – У Рона.)

Which of you has an English-Spanish dictionary? – I have. (У кого из вас есть испанско-английский словарь? – У меня.)

Обратите внимание, что в вопросах такого типа используется только одна форма глагола have – has (форма 3-го лица ед. ч.).
