1. При переводе американских военных текстов, касающихся воздушно-космической обороны, следует разграничивать значения терминов aerospace и airspace. Термин aerospace в данном случае означает воздушно-космический, а термин airspace – воздушное пространство.

2. Перевод словосочетаний с термином attrition часто вызывает трудности, так как в словаре даются его значения, имеющие самую отдаленную смысловую связь с областями ПВО и ПРО. Чтобы добиться адекватного перевода, следует воспользоваться самыми широкими и наиболее общими значениями данного термина – изнурение и нанесение потерь, урона. Эти значения указывают на то, что по средствам нападения противника будет осуществляться определенное воздействие с целью нанесения потерь и такое воздействие будет продолжаться до их полного «изнурения» (то есть многократно и все более активно по мере их приближения). Чтобы передать эти оттенки значения, рекомендуется следующий вариант перевода словосочетания to ensure (to inflict) attrition – обеспечить постепенное наращивание усилий ПВО до полного уничтожения целей (средств воздушного нападения противника).
