Chapter One - A Day Full of Excitement

The sun had barely risen when Ricky the Raccoon opened his eyes.

Today felt different.

Something exciting was waiting for him.

Maybe a race.

Maybe a new friend.

Maybe the most exciting day of the summer.

Ricky jumped out of bed and hurried downstairs.

His mother was making breakfast.

"You look excited," she said.

"I am!" Ricky replied. "I think today will be a great day!"

His mother smiled.

"I hope so. Just remember one thing: fun is better when we stay safe on the road."

"Don't worry, Mom," Ricky said confidently.

But as he grabbed his scooter and hurried outside, he was thinking about fun—not about safety.
