Prologue

In a small, cozy little house, there lived a family of cats. Among them was a kitten named Max. He was six years old and didn't go to school — he was homeschooled instead. One summer, Max and his family decided to go for a stroll near a farm. Suddenly, a strange man named Kay stepped out. He had no animals of his own, so he decided to take a shine to Max and keep him for himself. Kay didn’t have a clue how to catch him at first, but then he hauled an enormous net out of his shed. With one quick move, he captured Max!
From that day on, Max had to live, play, and sleep on the farm. Years passed, and when he turned nine, he wandered up to the fence and saw a mysterious man standing there. It was a wizard!
"Come here, little kitty," the man whispered. "I'll teach you how to talk just like a human."
Before long, Max was chatting away. He was the only cat in the world who could speak a human language. He was almost like a person, but he lacked one crucial thing — freedom. Meanwhile, Kay had picked up new animals: dogs, cows, chickens, sheep, and horses. When Max turned ten, he decided to make a break for it because he knew his real home was still out there somewhere.
The journey was bound to be long and dangerous, so he packed some snacks just in case. While Kay was busy feeding the livestock, Max leapt over the fence and ran for all he was worth.
Suddenly, a strange object tumbled out of his pocket. It was a keychain shaped like the letter O. Engraved on the edge were the words: "Against Retro Robots." Just as he was reading this, he ran into an actual retro robot!
"Go away! I have the O keychain — it's against retro robots!" Max shouted.
The robot attacked anyway, so Max hurled the keychain at it, and the machine simply vanished into thin air. Thirty minutes later, a fierce wind picked up, but Max refused to throw in the towel. He clung to a tree and wondered: "Could this be the retro robot's doing?"
When the storm calmed down, he pushed on. By evening, he reached the city and finally found his house. It looked even better than he remembered: the walls were a bright yellow-orange, and the roof was magnificent, shaped like a tower with sharp corners. The whole city had changed, filled with sleek, modern apartments. It was a sight for sore eyes!
He finally made it home. He had a few French fries left in his bag — his favorite treat since he was a kitten. As he ate, he felt a bit lonely: where were Mom and Dad? Suddenly, out of the blue, his parents jumped out from under the table with a huge cake to celebrate all his missed birthdays!
"Hi, Max! We have waited for so long! We are so sorry, Kay kept us chained up in our own home!" they cried.
It turned out that while Max was away, his parents had also learned to speak to humans. They had even hired a special tutor to teach them! They celebrated all his birthdays together, and everyone was on cloud nine.
Chapter 1. The Parrot, the Cat, and the Volcanic Island
Fifteen years had passed since the great adventure. One day, Max decided to take a stroll around the city. On his street, he noticed a restaurant with a sign shaped like a cake, a bustling supermarket, and a shop called The Tasty Tea Shop.
He decided to head into the restaurant for some pastries. The building stood alone, which was quite unusual for this city; it looked more like a zoo than a place to eat. Once inside, Max saw a man, a television, offices filled with computers, and animals that spoke the human language perfectly.
"What is this? I thought it was a restaurant," Max said, quite surprised.
"Yes, it is a restaurant. You can head over to that side," the man replied.
"What's your name?" the cat asked.
"My name is Jayme. Let's go try some cake," the man suggested.
"All right," Max agreed. But his curiosity got the better of him. "Wait, why are there animals here?"
"And why are you, a cat, speaking like a human?" Jayme retorted with a smile.
Max didn't have an answer for that.
"Would you like a parrot? Free of charge," Jayme asked. "He can talk, just like you. And he's magical."
"Cool!" said Max.
Half an hour later, they were enjoying their cake. By the time they finished, they noticed a fierce wind had picked up outside. However, Jayme didn't bat an eye. He calmly introduced all the animals. The parrot was named Rico, and the zebra was called Magic Zebra.
At that very moment, on a distant, uninhabited island, a volcano began to erupt.
"What's that sound?" Rico asked, ruffling his feathers.
"Oh, it's just a volcano," Max said, trying to stay calm.
"Oh no," Jayme whispered.
The moment he said that, they were whisked away — teleported — straight to the volcanic island. There they found crabs — talking crabs. And they were clearly up to no good. Each crab had its own number and its own unique power.
Long ago, these crabs had ruled the world until wizards appeared and cast a spell on them, destroying most of the villains. But the surviving crabs never lost hope of rebuilding their army to defeat the wizards. As soon as Max, Jayme, Rico, and Magic Zebra landed on the island, the crabs attacked.
Our heroes had to fight tooth and nail. Once they defeated the first wave, they realized they were in a tight spot: a torrent of lava was about to pour down on them. On one side was a vast ocean full of sharks, and on the other, an erupting volcano.
They retreated deeper into the island and stumbled upon a secret amulet.
"What is this?" asked Magic Zebra.
"It's a teleportation amulet," Max realized.
Max reached for the amulet just as a thousand more crabs appeared. He didn't know how to use the device to return to his cozy home. He twisted and turned it, but nothing happened. Max had to keep fighting.
"One more minute and this island will blow!" Max thought.
Suddenly, they were teleported — the amulet worked! Everyone ended up in their own home, except Rico, who landed at Max's place. Soon, they began living together, and every day they shared the same dream:
"Someday, we'll become superheroes!"
Chapter 2. The Magical Emerald Stone

Three months later, Max and Rico are living their best lives. They cook, go for walks, and always find fun things to do. One day, they decide to drop by Jayme's restaurant for a piece of cake.
While they are there, Jayme mentions that a girl named Abby is inviting them to a party. They aren't sure what it's for, but they decide to go anyway. As soon as they step outside, a gale-force wind sweeps down and knocks them off their feet! Max grabs his amulet just in time, and they instantly teleport to Abby's house.
There, they meet a girl with long hair, an emerald-green T-shirt, and brown pants.
"Hi, guys!" Abby greets them.
"Hey there!" the cat and the parrot reply.
"I need a huge favor," Abby says, her face turning serious. "I need you to keep the magical emerald stone safe from the crabs. Can you do it?"
"No problem!" Max answers without a second thought.
They head home with the stone, thinking the job will be a piece of cake. But they are wrong. At seven-thirty in the evening, the doorbell rings.
"Who's there?" Max asks.
"It's me," a voice answers.
Max forgets to be careful and opens the door. Suddenly, a giant monster named Frank appears with a horde of crabs! Chaos breaks out. While Max and Rico fight, an invisible crab creeps onto their bed and snatches the stone.
"Let's get out of here!" the crabs shout and vanish into thin air.
Max and Rico are devastated. They don't know where the stone is, but they have to act fast.
"So, where do we even start looking?" Rico asks, ruffling his feathers.
"I have no clue," Max replies. "But we have to give it our best shot."
They search the beach but only find normal crabs. Then they spot a strange building with a sign: "The Moon and a Bunch of Crabs." Inside, they see the evil crabs and the stone! But when they reach for it, their hands pass right through.
"It's just a hologram!" Max cries out.
"Run for it!" Rico shouts.
The crabs chase them across the sand. Suddenly, they bump into Frank.
"Wait! I want to help!" Frank yells. "I used to be human, but a magical button turned me into this beast. Please, don't go to the Moon!"
"No way, we have to get that stone back!" Max defies him.
The crabs catch up, and Frank loses his human side again. Max and Rico dash away and find themselves among abandoned houses covered in cool drawings. Max touches one, and suddenly the ground vanishes—he falls into a deep pit!
"Ahhh! Help me!"
"I'm on my way! I can fly, remember?" Rico dives after him.
At the bottom, they find a secret laboratory. Rico flies Max back up, and they head straight for the space station.
"Who are you?" the crew asks.
"We're Moon rescuers!" Max answers bravely. "The evil Frank is on the Moon with the stone, and he's going to blow up the planet!"
