About the duck and the water lily

Chapter one

Forest Lake

On a quiet forest lake lived a large white water lily. She was very lonely, because all the other water lilies grew at the other end of the lake, and she rarely saw them.

Chapter two

Friendship between the water lily and the duck

One day a duck flew to the lake. She was very curious and friendly, and immediately noticed the water lily.

– Hello! – said the duck. – My name is Kryakva. And you?

– I'm Jolly, – answered the water lily. – I'm so glad you came!

– Don't be sad, – said Kryakva. – Now you have me!

And since then Kryakva and Jolly became best friends. They spent a lot of time together: Kryakva swam around the water lily, telling her about her adventures, and Jolly listened to her, spreading her white petals.

Chapter three

Plumage of the red heron

Towards evening a red heron flew onto the lake. Her name was Marvella. She had reddish-brown plumage with a violet tint, a yellow-orange beak and brownish-green long legs. The plumage of the red heron made her invisible among the branches and reeds.
