In today’s society, there are many different personalities and characteristics that people possess. They have their genesis in a multitude of factors, including genetics, upbringing, and life experiences. Some individuals may be perfectionists, always striving for excellence in everything they do. Others may be more spontaneous, going with the flow and living in the moment. There are also those who are submissive, preferring to follow rather than lead.
One thing that is substantially important for all individuals is having a vision for their future. A visionary person can see beyond the present moment and has a clear idea of what they want to achieve in life. They have the ability to grasp opportunities, set goals and work towards them with dedication and determination.
Another important trait is decency. Being decent means treating others with respect and kindness, regardless of their background or beliefs. It is an ethical value that should be upheld at all times.
On the other hand, egoism is a negative characteristic that can hinder personal growth and relationships with others. People who are too self-centered often lack empathy and disregard the feelings of others. It is important to balance one’s own needs with the needs of those around them.
In today’s hyper-connected world, it is easy to get caught up in materialistic values and lose sight of what truly matters. However, it is important to stay grounded and appreciate the rarity of true connections that come from genuine human interaction. Fleeting moments of joy may come from material goods, but lasting happiness comes from within.
In conclusion, there are many different traits and values that make up a person’s personality. By striving for decency, empathy, and ethical behavior, we can create a formidable force for positive change in the world. By pursuing our vision with dedication and resilience, we can achieve great things and create real masterpieces.

Living a virtuous life is something that many of us aspire to. But what does it really mean to be virtuous? It means having high moral standards and behaving in a way that is considered good and right. Virtue is often contrasted with vice, which refers to behaviour that is immoral or harmful.
One of the most important virtues is sincerity. Being sincere means being honest and truthful in all your dealings with others. It also means being true to yourself and your own values. When you are sincere, people trust you and respect you.
Another important virtue is productivity. This means doing things that are useful and productive. It means using your time and resources wisely, and not wasting them on short-lived pleasures or frivolous pursuits.
Being amiable and agreeable is also important. This means being friendly and easy to get along with. When you are amiable, you are able to build strong relationships with others and create a positive social environment.
Sometimes being bold as brass can be necessary. This means being assertive and confident, even when faced with difficult situations. It means standing up for yourself and your beliefs, even when others try to put you down. However, it is important to be astute and aware of how your behaviour affects others. Being brusque or rude can damage relationships and cause unnecessary conflict.
Ultimately, the utility of developing virtues and positive behaviours cannot be overstated. Being virtuous doesn’t mean being serious all the time. We should strive to be bright as a button and spread joy wherever we go.

Unit 25
1. Read the text and try to figure out the meaning of the highlighted words.
Personality traits are the unique characteristics that define a person. They can be good or bad, but they define us and shape our future.
An extrovert is someone who is cool as a cucumber in social settings and constantly craves attention. They are gregarious and love to hobnob with others. They are often effusive in their interactions and hanker after the thrill of meeting new people. Introverts, on the other hand, tend to hold their tongue in social situations and exchange no more than a few words with others. They may feel uncomfortable in social situations and may flinch at the thought of having to speak in public. They might gape at extroverts who seem so at ease in social situations, wondering how they do it. However, this doesn’t mean that introverts can’t be daring.
Some people might be dogmatic in their ways and hold onto their beliefs without any room for change or improvement. They may grimace at the thought of trying something new or emulating someone else’s methods. This kind of conceit can be harmful and prevent personal growth. It’s important to clarify misunderstandings or miscommunications with others. And remember, just because someone seems dull as ditchwater on the surface, it doesn’t mean they don’t have interesting habits and stories to share.
