The Island of Golden Zandolie 3. The Big Eyes’ Dragon

… Olga was found by Denis, in her bedroom, in bed, in a pool of blood. At first, Denis got scared, thinking of murder, but then he felt a weak pulse and called an ambulance.

Denis just saved her.

Olga had another miscarriage, this time of an unborn child from Dominic, the Indian consul … She almost died from the blood loss …

Olga woke up in the central hospital of the Island, where a nurse told her this sad news.

Denis was not allowed to see her, because he was not a relative. But he managed to visit her the next day.

“Olga, you are so pale, almost blue! You need to increase your hemoglobin; you have lost so much blood! I thought you were killed!!!”

“Who’d need to kill me …”

“What happened?”

“It's okay, just bleeding. It happens sometimes with me …”

“Did you have someone the day before? Have you been visited?

Chapter 3

Is the Golden Zandolie immortal?

Julia was in her beloved “secret garden”, completely immersed in the work on the ending of her new science fiction novel.

The story in her new novel was ending well – all humans and aliens have learned to live happily together, and their mutant children were also able to find their love.

A new race of humans was born, in which the blood of aliens was flowing. They all had negative rhesus and an accelerated metabolism …

Julia thought about it. In reality, everything was quite different.

She herself had a child from a mutant Marley, an alien's son. She was pregnant for few years. Then the “alien seed” suddenly activated, had developed inside rapidly and almost killed her! After the birth of her mutant son Ray, Julia became barren.

How could everything happen on that distant planet from which the alien Golden Zandolie fled to Earth? Maybe those aliens would give birth only once in a lifetime? And only in the most appropriate moment? …

After all, Julia gave birth exactly when her life became calm and successful….

Years have passed since the death of Golden Zandolie. Perhaps there are still women on the Island, who are pregnant from the rebel alien? If their life's full of worries and problems, they would not give birth very soon.

Ray's father, Marley, said that Zandolie was keeping a close eye on women after his sexual intercourse, and was taking away newborn babies. Then it seemed strange to Julia, because he would have to raise babies himself, which should be quite troublesome.

However later, on the example of her own mutant child, she realized, that everything was simple – children were growing up very quickly and were self-taught!

Bang! – and you have a clever muscular giant, with lightning eyes capable of hypnotizing or killing anyone. The perfect soldier! Such as her late lover Marley, such as her son Ray!

Interesting, what was their life expectancy…

Oh, Marley! He died, destroying his father Zandolie for the safety of people … with help from other aliens, who would not tolerate any interbreed with humans …

Sometimes it seemed to Julia, that she was still hearing Marley's voice or feeling his touch. Marley's soul remained with her forever. Sometimes she had the same dream that she was finding Marley in a coma and waking him up with a kiss.

With the spirit of Marley, she had a much warmer relationship, than with the living two heroes – her husband Scott and her mutant son Ray. And Scott and Ray became even closer friends.

They all had a common cause – gold! Black mutants were doing an excellent job of gold mining. Humans could not work in the toxic conditions of a seething acid lake with golden shores.

Julia was worried about too many things in the current situation on the Island.

Not all local residents were happy with the “legalization” of mutants.

Ray, the grandson of Golden Zandolie, gradually became the new owner of the Island – both mutants and humans obeyed him unquestioningly. Ray could always use his superpowers of hypnosis, manipulation and even elimination.

Only Scott, Julia's so lovely and unloved husband, was not afraid of his beloved adopted son. He was not affected by alien hypnosis. …

That what Julia was pondering about …

Her work on the novel has come to a halt, and she decided to call Denis. Sometimes a conversation with him could bring her a new wave of inspiration.

“Denis, hello! How are you? Would you like to visit us? Or should we get together at the Jolly Roger? Long time no see!”

“Julia, did you call to invite us, or did something happen? Is Marley back? Ray disappeared?”

“No-no! Nothing happened. I just wanted to talk. Don't you notice anything odd? Ray has changed … It seems he has hardened somehow. And Scott would never notice. They are happy together. But their joint projects and trips are becoming more… daring. I am scared…”

Ray was developing a completely new apparatus – it turned out to be something like a transformer, that could turn into an airplane and a submarine! A flying submarine, almost like an alien UFO, or rather a USO (unidentified swimming object)!

Scott was absolutely thrilled!

Ray was overflown with ideas – where did they come from! Although Scott always remembered that Ray's grandfather was an alien, who was quite resourceful and even knew how to control the weather and volcanoes!

Zandolie himself used to build amazing flying machines and even knew how to be invisible.

At first Scott was giving the growing Ray all his knowledge and skills as a sailor, military pilot and mechanic. And now he himself was learning a lot from Ray.

IT specialist Denis also was introducing Ray to a programming crash course, and now the mutant was an ace in electronics.

Julia was carefully observing her husband and son. Pretending to be indifferent, with a bored look, she sometimes was casually dropping general questions and pretending not to listen …

And she herself was secretly taking notes, photographing various new devices and weapons that kept appearing in Scott's workshop – she was collecting material, almost like x-files!

She was also filming her son, which she had never done before – and was carefully studying the time differences in the constantly changing appearance of the mutant.

Ray was even looking more and more like Zandolie. She would need to show everything to Denis, since there was no hope for Scott.

Julia was amazed, how Ray could start the car with a touch of his hand, how he once saved a fisherman by one simple move! It was written about this miracle in the local newspaper.

However, there was no public reaction, people were simply scared. And even more scared was the mother of the mutant, Julia. She herself learned about everything from the newspaper, by reading of the online version.

Julia also did not stop thinking about Golden Zandolie himself. Where did he disappear, did he really die?

That tragic time few years ago Indians saw him near the Steps of the Big Serpent – at the sacred entrance to the cave, leading to the maze of lava tubes. This, according to the beliefs of the Indians, was the kingdom of the dead. The dead were brought here in ancient times and thrown into a poisonous boiling lake in an underground crater …

Where were both, Zandolie and Marley – their bodies were never found!?

Julia seemed to see Marley a couple of times after. She observed an energy clot like ball lightning or a plasmoid – it took the shape of Marley and even spoke to her and touched her…

Were those some kind of audible and sensitive hallucinations? Only she and Ray could see Marley's plasmoid.

Denis explained this by the fact that they had a special connection with Marley – by love.

Good, that Julia was not in love with this horrible blue and puny alien Golden Zandolie! That's who she would never want to see again, especially in the form of the fire ball!

Still, she would love to see some evidence that Golden Zandolie was dead! He couldn’t just burst like a bubble!

Chapter 4

The new quest. To find that UFO and Marley

An old army jeep was rolling on the winding mountain road along the sea. A clear sunny day was pleasing the eye of beholder with splendid colors of the blue water horizon and mountains, covered with green rainforest.

Denis and Olga were in the vehicle. Denis lowered the canvas top of the jeep. And Olga's blonde, almost white hair fluttered freely in the wind.

It's so wonderful life! Olga breathed deeply the smells of a fine tropical day – the salty sea, hot dust, sweet flowers. She wanted to completely surrender to the elements of the warm breeze … How long Olga didn’t go nowhere and didn’t expect anything new… And now she was again in the car with an old friend and going to communicate with other Russians, learn amazing news and open new horizons together…

Olga was surprised that she still had such a strong will for a new life…

She was happy to see Scott's house again. The impregnable high gates silently opened and the jeep drove into the courtyard.

Olga and Denis were immediately greeted by Scott himself with open arms. Julia and Ray, Zina and Alex were already waiting for them in the house. It was Alex who brought Zina, since Denis had her jeep.

All the Russian adventurers were together again! Plus, British hero Scott and the mutant Ray!

Julia jumped out of the house and immediately hugged Olga too. Zina just waved her hand with restraint. Ray smiled from the doorway.

Olga looked at Ray and shuddered. How he has changed in this short time! The golden skin gave more and more blue. The narrowed eyes were hidden behind dark glasses. The sense of danger emanating from the tall mutant was almost touching!

Olga averted her eyes and went with Julia to the terrace. The rest stayed in the kitchen.

Julia looked her over with a sympathy.

“Olga! Please accept my condolences … I am glad, that you survived … that Denis saved you … No, that's sound odd, sorry …”

“Yes, Julia. For a bestselling writer, it didn't come out of you too smoothly! Just include my story in your novels. It will turn out to be a very juicy plot… Well! Better tell me how Ray and Scott are lately? I read about this miraculous rescue of a fisherman …”

“Yes, Ray can start a car engine and a human heart with a simple touch of his hand. Probably, he can also stop someone else's car or life without any difficulty … I'm still scared if you wish to know. I gave birth to a monster, another owner of the Island, where everyone turned into zombies, fulfilling the will of an extraterrestrial mutant!”

At this time, a noisy crowd poured out from the kitchen onto the terrace with a variety of dinner dishes.

It was good that Scott's house was massive and spacious, because it was once a military fort in the past. Ray became very large and heavy and could easily destroy ordinary human housing. But not Scott's “men's den”!

On the huge dining table on the terrace, they quickly arranged everything for dinner and sat around.

Olga never knew she could be so hungry – she eagerly devoured all the food and dashingly washed it down with table wine! She blushed and chatted incessantly, reacting exuberantly to every joke.

Denis again looked at Olga with loving eyes, and his wife Zina – with the eyes of a predator (a bear, to be more precise) at him.

Denis was also dying of curiosity about updates on the new projects, all this was much more exciting for him, than his former first love Olga.

He remembered about his promise to keep quiet about the latest UFO attack, so he let Ray do all the talking.

“Ray, tell everyone how we got on with our flying submarine!”

“Of course, Den! I think everyone has already realized, that there is an alien base under the water. Perhaps, Scott will soon have a new business too. Not only boat trips on a catamaran, but also underwater voyages. I really enjoy diving. There are so many interesting things underwater! Even volcanoes!”

“And tell them, our sub can fly!!”

“Yes! It will be “Big Eyes’ Dragon 2”!”

They all laughed. Denis was absolutely happy. Everything was great today. The extraterrestrial mutant again was shining with his intelligence and pleasing them with the new inventions! Beloved friend Olga has blossomed again and was interested in aliens! All friends have got together! And very soon they should begin to explore the depths of the sea around the Island at large! He was sure that amazing discoveries of other worlds should await them!
