Eldest Son of Nichloas and Mary Elizabeth (Stitz) Mock, he was born in Prussia and came to America

when he was 9 yrs. old with his parents. They located in Davenport, IA.

The family moved to Hampton, IL, John and Elizabeth married in in 1858, and they moved to the

family to Newbury, KS in 1869. The family of 15 children, lived on a farm N/E of the Sacred Heart

Catholic Church where the family were members.

John died of pneumonia after a long illnes. His funeral was held in the Catholic Church and was

attended by a large number of his lifetime friends and neighbors and family

Darlington- Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Gabel, 84, mother of Louis Gabel, Darlington, who died

Monday at her home in Shullsburg were held today in St. Matthews church at Shullsburg.

Mrs. Gabel was born in Germany coming to this country as a child with her parents who settled at

Seymour. Besides Louis of Darlington she is survived by two sons, Joe and Will, of Shullsburg, a

daughter, Mrs. Ed Morgan, Seymour and a sister Mrs. Geo. Gable, who lived with her.

Her husband died in 1918. Burial was at Seymour.

Darlington- Louis Gabel, 64, retired farmer, died suddenly at his home in

Darlington late Wednesday after a heart attack. He was born Nov. 24, 1877, in

Seymour township west of Darlington. He farmed in that vicinity until he moved to

Darlington about 19 years ago.

Survivors include the widow, Clara; three brothers, Joseph, Charles, and William

Gabel, all of Shullsburg, and a sister, Mrs. Edward Morgan, Seymour township.

Funeral services probably will be held Friday at Holy Rosary Catholic church in

Darlington.
