This is a book by Nikolay Lovelius (born 1935), one of the most eminent and reputed judges and referees in the history of the Russian and European boxing. A wartime orphan, he managed to become a major scientist, the founder of an academic school. He also had a brilliant career in sports. He won the Best Boxing Judge of the 1980 Olympic Games title and took part in major international competitions. Quite a few outstanding athletes and coaches are his personal friends. His judging career lasted for over 70 years. In his memoirs, Lovelius recounts the story of his early involvement in boxing, his studies in schools and colleges, his coaching career and his way to the top of the judging hierarchy.
